A copyright agent on behalf of PHP Link Directory is tracking directories without license. Instead of contacting the owner first, they are sending copyright abuse notices to hosting providers.

They probably noticed there are way too many phpld directories running, comparing to what they sold.

The good part about this, is that many poor quality directories will cease to exist since they won’t be able to afford the license. On the other hand, those directories which are not hosted in US or EU, will probably ignore the copyright infringement notices from Mr. David DuVal.

If you have received such notification, here are your options:

• If you don’t care too much about your directory, you can just shut it down.
• Change the directory software with: PHPlynx, eSyndicat, wsnlinks, indexscript, etc.
• Downgrade to PHPld version 2.X which is free and together with phpmyadmin is decent.
• Go to PHPld website and buy a license.
